Exciting times these days, aren't they? With all of the news being monopolized by the up coming Presidential Election, it's hard to think on much else. I have found myself more interested and involved in the election than I ever have in the past. Now that is still not saying much, but still, more than ever. I mean, we even have a lawn sign denoting who it is we will be voting for this term. That's active participation in my book. Big step from three years ago.
Anyhow, I have our six children home on school vacation this week and we have been spending some time over at the park doing different things. The kids like feeding the geese and catfish. Then they like moving over to the next little man-made pond and feed the little baby fish (and try to catch them with their hands). The dog has a blast with all this, too.
We pack up a lunch in a backpack along with at least two insulated jugs of ice water (we are talking Alabama here) and of course duck food. I bring along my spiral notebook and sit at the concrete picnic table and write stories. I enjoy this piece of peace very dearly. The kids are safe and having a blast, the dog is happy and legal, the wind is blowing, the sun is shining, the sweet smell of trees in late bloom criss-crossing in the air...it's wonderful. I write until my hand will not permit me to write even one more word. That's when I look at my watch and realize that nearly two hours have gone by. Time to go walk back home.
And its time for you to send in your stories. Come on, you know you want to. Get that story written into an email and send it to me. You'll be glad you did when you see your own story in print in my book RV Stories By You.
