Tellin' That Story

I have been finding myself lately, chuckling under my breath at the stupidest of things. My perception of life's "things" has changed dramatically over the past six months.
Actually, I think it started changing once we decided we were leaving Alaska thirteen months ago.
About the last time Roger and I stood in the house we left behind in Alaska, we were handed a book to read by a friend that was there with us. He is old enough to be our grandfather and we highly respect every word that he speaks. He's lived his nine lives and has scars to prove it. Anyway, he handed us this book to read that he found to be "life changing". We started reading it, even before we headed out of Alaska in the RV for Alabama and was instantly hooked.
Roger and I took turns driving and/or reading out loud off and on all the way here. We actually got to finish the book once we landed here. Awesome, awesome book. I suppose this book couldn't reach everyone, but it reached the two of us. And through the eye-opening experience of that book, I have finally learned what I have been hearing and been told all these years of mine. And that is this: "Self is only responsible for one's own happiness". Along with that I learned that I can control my feelings. I can decide to smile and feel it as well. I can be happy - - no matter what!
And with that all said, I bring you the pictures below. The things, the stupid simple things that make me feel happy.
The picture on the left is of us in the RV stopping by the local Krispy Kreme for hot-off-the-press donuts. Mmmmmmm!
The middle picture is of our oldest son picking the nose of a peanut! Haha! Don't repeat that! No one will believe you!
And the photo on the right is of a beautiful leaf I picked up off the street on one of my walks and enjoyed it enough to bring it home with me and share with you. (my picture does not show its true beauty. Light green all about the edges and a glorious blush reddish-purple on the inside)
All very different experiences, but all with one conclusion...they make me happy.
Isn't that life's journey?

Now go ahead and email me a story that touches your heart. It doesn't have to be long and lengthy. Just wordy enough so that the rest of us get the picture of your story in our minds.
Email me your story or rather just submit it on my website:
