Thunder Storms Instead of Snow

Boy is it ever raining out there today. Here in southern Alabama I have come to learn that when it rains, it pours...buckets! When we first got here we took notice of the time, effort and funding that the town put into drainage and ports for a lot of water at one time to escape the roadways.

Deep, cement trenches everywhere. To pull off a street and into a store parking lot nearly bottom-out your car. I see a lot of jeeps down here, maybe that's why.
Here, I'm just having some fun with the camera taking some video shots of the thunder storm. All the kids are in school, Roger's at work and its just me and the dog. I seem to be more relaxed in a thunder storm when I am trying to relax the children from fearing it. Now that there isn't anyone to soothe, I'm a little uneasy with all the racket the skies are making.

I remember one time, camping with my family as a kid. My parents took such care in finding the perfect tent-pitching spot, the best place for the fire, the right fallen tree for number twos, all of that. Well it rained that first night, and hard! I seemed to be sleeping just fine when I was woken up by lots of commotion.
Apparently, the tent was pitched in the lowest point on the site and became a waterbed! It was a canvas tent and water proof, so it remained on top of the water, still everything eventually got went. Fortunately for us, my dad's brother and wife came along too and let us sleep in with them. Having an over-sized tent can be very handy!
That was a night to remember for sure. And still do.

Got a story to tell? You can, and get it into print as well, and all at no cost to you. Just go to my website and send me your camping story today!
