and two, a chance to get to know our RV a little more personally.

Having backed the RV into the garage, being careful of the truck and the things inside the garage, my husband backed it in there just right. It was a little tight on the top at first entrance, but it cleared the roll-up door... just enough.
It took some figuring and manipulating, but eventually the ol' girl let us jack her up. She went hard too. Roger had to use some serious muscle. Even after we went and bought a bigger jack. But we finally got the tires off the ground and the project underway.
Well, after our first break, walking back to the garage from the house, we saw what it was that was causing her(the rv) to fight us being jacked up.
We were jacking her up against the roof of the building! No wonder she was so heavy! We jacked against the roof, too!
On to the dissembling. I had the book. Roger had the know-how. After his getting the axle shaft and gasket off and safely out of the way, the brake drum came next. What we saw inside of that was amazing. Here, I went out to the garage with my camera and took a little video so that you could see it first hand.
We could tell since Pennsylvania that something was up. Then the brake light came on. Not cool. Especially when the whole family is aboard. We had a budget for the trip and it did not include a taxi ride for eight from Penn to southern Alabama, so we kept going. We held in our hearts that everything would be okay. And like I said in the little video above, something bigger than us that day got us home.
Next time, we'll carry a little bigger budget...just in case.
